Our focus is on strengthening pre-hospital care, enhancing professionalism, quality control, and standardization. We aim to bridge the gap in Health Systems in Africa by providing competency-based training for medical personnel. Our demand-driven courses equip health workers, including nurses, doctors, public health personnel, and emergency responders, with the skills needed to address emerging health emergencies and dynamic disaster patterns.
Who We Are
Founded in 2010, the Kenya Red Cross Training Institute (KRCTI) was established to address the critical need for qualified pre-hospital care professionals. We are a premier institution, registered under the Ministry of Education, offering specialized training in emergency medical services and related health disciplines. Our comprehensive programs include a Diploma in Paramedic Science, Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician, and accredited short medical courses by international organizations such as the American Heart Association, NAEMT, and the American College of Surgeons.
KRCTI is also recognized as a workplace trainer by the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) and the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), offering occupational health and safety training. Our mission is to nurture competent professionals through experiential learning, quality research, and innovation, guided by our core values of excellence, inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration.
To enhance accessibility and recognize industry experience, KRCTI offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), allowing professionals with hands-on experience in emergency medical services to have their skills assessed and certified. This ensures that individuals with prior knowledge can fast-track their certification and career growth, further strengthening Kenya’s healthcare and emergency response sectors.
As a center of excellence, KRCTI is dedicated to training professionals who can lead in emergency response and pre-hospital care, contributing significantly to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Kenya and beyond. Our institution not only focuses on theoretical knowledge but also emphasizes practical training through modern infrastructure, including a skills laboratory and a trauma center, ensuring our students are fully prepared for real-world challenges.
