Course Description
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) is an advanced course designed for the registered nurse interested in increasing his/her knowledge in management of multiple trauma patients.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this Program, the nurse should:
- Have clear concepts and principles of primary and secondary patient assessment;
- Be able to establish management priorities in a trauma situation; and
- Be aware of the importance of a standardized team approach in trauma care, understand the ATLS common language and perform properly as a team member when managing multiple trauma patients.
- Assess the patient’s condition rapidly and accurately
- Resuscitate and stabilize the patient according to priority
- Determine if the patient’s needs exceed a facility’s capabilities
- Arrange appropriate definitive care for patients
Requirements
- A valid nursing license (RN or equivalent)
- Basic life support (BLS) certification (recommended)
- Experience in emergency, trauma, or critical care nursing (preferred)
