Occupational Fire Safety

Course Description
This is a technical course aimed to impact knowledge and expertise in fire risks and vulnerability assessment, fire safety auditing, fire prevention, conducting fire drills and mock evacuation. The course targets persons who wish to take a leadership role as Fire wardens/marshals as representatives of the organization/company. The course targets corporate, institutions, Non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) and faith based organization (FBO’s), Government Ministries, Parastatals, Factories and general public.
Course Objectives
- Fundamentals of fire safety
- Fire Prevention – Identify fire hazards and reduce risks.
- Fire Safety Equipment – Know how to use and maintain extinguishers, alarms, and sprinklers.
- Emergency Response – Plan evacuations, lead fire drills, and ensure safe exits.
- Legal Compliance – Follow fire safety laws and workplace regulations.
- Incident Reporting – Investigate fires and document incidents.
- Leadership & Communication – Train others and work with emergency services.
Requirements
- Open to individuals in workplaces requiring fire safety knowledge
- Recommended for safety officers, facility managers, and emergency responders
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Basic understanding of workplace safety is an added advantage
